We’ve added another funny new video clip on our G-Tube page – check it out, it’s well worth a cackle!
We’ve booked the Nepean Sail Club for Sunday, April 29th @ 7:00 pm to bring you live tunes from Tiller in a Rock Garden, Mellonta Tauta and the upcoming album, Uncle Joe and the Big City Blues. Uncle Joe is the only member who remained earthbound of the Family Smokes, from MT, and this album is his story, and his songs. Tickets will go on sale at Mississippi Mills Musicworks April 1st. The evening will be documented on video, and feature many of the guests that appear on the studio recordings.
My brother Ray produced this video of three Georges. The song, “Painted Corners” is the second track off my second album, Mellonta Tauta. There’s no lip-syncing going on, all parts were played live off the floor.
Mondays at 7:30 I team up with fellow guitar/drum instructor Mike Martel, and together we bring you Ukulele Klub. Anyone can join at anytime! All levels welcome! We have a blast jamming out classics by The Beatles, The Doors, Louis Armstrong, Kansas, TV & Movie themes – you name it, we’ll learn it! Where? www.mmmusicworks.ca. That’s in Harmony Court, 453 Ottawa Street, Almonte. See u there!
December 1, 2011 … Turcotte releases “Mellonta Tauta”, his second release. Mellonta Tauta is a concept or storybook album that follows the adventures of a family of hillbillies fed up with the feds (and earth-people in general) and build a balloon-powered space truck (a 1920′s two-ton flatbed Ford named Bessie) in order to escape the constrictions of life on earth.
You can preview both sides of the album here:
Side Two: “Flight of the Ford”
Mellonta Tauta, the story:
Inspired by the writings of literary giant Edgar Allen Poe, fearless figurehead Pappy Smokes leads the family to success in their mission to break the chains of society – with the exception of young Uncle Joe, who is determined to break into pop culture with a banjo and takes up with the denizens of the Big City of Burbank. (Look for his first record in the months to come). Their greater mission, however – destination Planet Mars – or X – remains to be achieved as they are currently en route. Pappy is keeping us well informed of their progress however, as after each bottle of Crystal Head Vodka (which may or may not contain Fumes of Borealis) is drained he drifts back to Earth a note via cette étrange messager. Peruse his first transmission (included in the cd) here.
Well, I’m back… got my stuff together, and here I am. Hope you like the new digs.
